Moss walk with specialist Andrew Hodgson
This walk will be a gentle stroll around different habitats on Farley Moor, from damp woodland to sandy heathland. While most of the species known from the site are common, it remains an important place locally for its diversity of Sphagnum species, including one of only two known sites for Sphagnum compactum in Derbyshire. Epiphytes will also add interest, and there’s always the chance of coming across something unexpected!
Event Location – Main Car Park Entrance
Meet as usual at the main carpark entrance at 1.45pm (W3W ///losing.decays.unearthly).
Please park carefully avoiding blocking the main entrance, and share lifts or get dropped off it at all possible.
For those walking from town we will meet up at the Community Meeting Space (W3W ///denote.flaunting.freedom)
Andrew has very kindly offered his time free of charge – any donations to the campaign fund or Friends of Matlock Forest charity much appreciated!
